Supporting our Music Programs
Most of the music program expenses at St. Paul's, including guest instrumentalists, staff singers, high school choral scholars, and building our music library, are supported by generous parishioner donations. We appreciate your generosity and support!
Choral Singing at St. Paul's
The St. Paul's parish choir is comprised of parishioners of all ages, including junior choristers. The choir provides choral music for the 10:30 ΑΜ Sunday liturgies as well as special services and Evensongs throughout the year.
Join the Parish Choir
The St. Paul's parish choir rehearses on Thursday evenings from 6:45 PM until 8:45 PM during the academic year, as well as on Sunday mornings at 9:30 AM prior to the 10:30 AM choral Eucharist. The parish choir provides music for regular Sunday, holy week, and Christmas Eve liturgies, and approximately three Evensongs per academic year. The parish choir is fortunate to have a small core of professional singers, but St. Paul's relies on parishioners to fill out its choral ranks. If you have some musical experience and are interested in joining the choir, please contact Erin McAdams, St. Paul's organist and choir master.
The St. Paul's junior choristers are comprised of young singers, from grades 1 to 6. The junior choristers rehearse on Sunday mornings immediately following the 10:30 AM choral Eucharist, and they join the St. Paul's parish choir approximately once per month to sing at the 10:30 AM choral Eucharist. Junior choristers also participate in a limited number of special services and Evensongs throughout the year. Junior choristers at St. Paul's learn the foundations of choral singing and music theory, and the St. Paul's program is affiliated with the Royal School of Church Music (RSCM) curriculum. Please contact Erin McAdams, St. Paul's organist and choir master, with any questions or interest.
St. Paul's has a longstanding tradition of providing training in sacred choral singing to young singers. The parish choir currently has two auditioned student choral scholars. Choral scholars at St. Paul's are exposed to choral singing in the Anglo-Catholic tradition and participate fully in the church's choral activities, while earning scholarship money for further education.
